Through my weaving, I am working to express my dreams, my memories, the overlapping cultural influences of my life in the United States, and my aspirations for the future.  The traditional elements repeated in different forms throughout my textiles are a means of connecting with, celebrating, and preserving the rich and fascinating Guatemalan culture of
my childhood.

Each hanging that I weave requires at least 100 hours to complete. It is a slow and repetitive process. My work is a continuation of a thousand year old craft rarely practiced today.  It is a craft that could very easily be lost in our mechanized and hectic world.  I hope each piece I weave communicates my sense of this history and its value to us, as well as expressing the time, attention, and love it contains.  And the joy!
